Beer and Bacon Conversations with Dr. Mike Eisenmenger

Sunday afternoon join us for a vivid conversation with Dr. Mike Eisenmenger. Mike grew up on a small family farm in northwest Iowa. Mike received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State in 1983. He started working in southwest Minnesota at a clinic caring for dogs, cats, horses, cattle, dairy and swine. As the swine industry changed and became more specialized in the 1990s, he knew he wanted to focus on swine exclusively. He then joined the Swine Vet Center, a swine-exclusive practice with 15 veterinarians. Today, most of Mike’s time is focused on health strategies and disease elimination/reduction strategies. He leads a health team that includes veterinarians, health technicians and biosecurity/air filtration experts.

Allen D Leman Science in Practice Reception honoring Dr. Tom Petznick
Monday evening from 5:15 - 7:30 p.m. at the RiverCentre
Join us to celebrate the distinguished Leman Science in Practice award winner Dr. Tom Petznick. The event will take place at the RiverCentre at 5:15 p.m. right after the afternoon sessions are done. We will celebrate Dr. Petznick's accomplishments and contributions to the industry. Connect with old friends and new and sample some of the finest the RiverCentre caterers have to offer!
For over 25 years Petznick has successfully met client needs through a balance of science-based and practical approaches to livestock health. His tireless efforts led to recognition of the widespread and largely unknown role of sapovirus in pig production systems. Also, his expertise in managing purebred sows has made him an in-demand consulting swine veterinarian.
Dr. Petznick earned his DVM in 1995 from Kansas State University, and is currently working on a Master’s degree in veterinary preventive medicine at Iowa State University. Since 2010, he has been in private practice focusing on swine health and production and servicing swine clients of all sizes and types throughout the Great Plains and Hawaii.
